I. EVIDENCE OF THE DISPLAY OF THE ALIEN’S WORK IN THE FIELD OF ARTISTIC EXHIBITIONS OR SHOWCASES
A. The Requirements
This criterion is generally intended for visual artists, such as sculptors and painters. As such, the person must have participated in exhibitions or showcases that have actively sought or received entries from nationally or internationally acclaimed artists, or else the exhibitions must be prestigious nationally with artists nationwide seeking acceptance into the exhibitions. In re Petitioner, EAC-01-179-54032 (AAO). As for numerical requirements, the person must have participated in enough exhibitions to show a pattern of sustained national or international acclaim. AAO has announced that athletic competitions are not artistic exhibitions. Furthermore, any exhibition that allows everyone to participate would not qualify this criterion because that would defeat the restrictive nature of Section 203(b)(1)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. B. Conclusion
The artistic exhibitions that the person has participated in must be indicative of or at least consistent with sustained national or international acclaim. Local or regional acclaims are insufficient for this criterion.
